1. What is COVID 19?

COVID19 is a part of the large Coronaviruses or CoV family of zoonotic viruses that cause diseases ranging from the common flu to Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or MERS-CoV and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS-CoV.

Being zoonotic these viruses can be transmitted between animals and humans. For example, SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans while MERS-CoV was transmitted from dromedary camels. The source of COVID19 is still under investigation, hence it’s called novel Coronavirus.

2. The Structure of COVID-19

To fight against a threat, it’s always useful to know about its structure. In the case of COVID19, it has a fatty cell membrane and protein spikes. The protein spikes help it to stick to other cells and the fatty membrane protects its inner material from outside making regular water washes ineffective….
